chose to attend this online lecture because I was intrigued by the title of being good at self-promotion. As my goal at the end of my three year degree programme is to start my own clothing line, I thought it would be wise to understand how to promote my brand better in advance as preparation so that I would be able to garner more consumers. I learned the importance of finding every opportunity to make myself known to the public, such as, being in media publications, joining national agencies, taking part in competitions, being a part of international events and exhibitions to gain awards, grants, publicity, and collaboration, and of course, being active in social media. I also learned to be aware of trends (whether old or new), keywords and new tools to use at my advantage, to consider buzzwords, pop culture, and styles, and to stay curious in my chosen line of work. I was right to think that the talk I attended proved to be of use to my future as I myself had never thought that there are a lot of considerations to think about when putting yourself out to the world. When given the opportunity, I would love to attend more talks so that I'd gain more knowledge on expanding my business in the future.

Us fashion students decided to pick jewellery as a group to go together, but as an avid jewellery collector (especially when it comes to necklaces) I was curious as to how the inside of the workshop looked like. I wasn't prepared to actually make something, as the last time I attended a workshop induction back in Year 1 diploma, I was only taken on a tour around the 3D workshop, so it was a pleasant surprise for us to use the tools that students in jewellery use, it also takes me back to when I was in secondary school doing design and technology, so I was familiar with some of the tools that they had, such as the drills, handsaws, and more. During the jewellery workshop, we were tasked with making a mini keychain of our choice. I chose the shape of a cat because I have one myself, and I wanted a copper/bronze/idk keychain as a nice reminder of him. We had to drill a few holes, one for the insertion of the chain in which it hangs from, and another to insert the handsaw blade so that we would start sawing at the hard material. It was energy consuming and draining to cut the metal as accurately as possible, but I managed with a clean cut of the cat. I was then given a piece of sandpaper to smoothen out the edges, and in the end the cat still resembles that of my own at home. I enjoyed the workshop, and I look forward to learning more about how jewellery is made.
