week 1
What is fashion (to me)?
To be interested in fashion is to know how to style yourself, take note of your proportions to present yourself in a way that does not make your body look weird, and to wear clothes that you think suit you.
It took me quite a while to figure out what I like in terms of aesthetics, brands, garments, and etc., but I think it's worth the effort and money spent to make myself look the way I want to.
I joined this domain because I realized I have quite a specific taste in garments (like jackets, shirts, pants, and the like), that I am unable to find easily, and when I do actually find what I'm looking for, the price is astronomical.
So I thought it'd be nice to learn how to make my wants come to life at my own lower expense (and also because I got tired of being sat and drawing all day without making full use of my hands).

Design an outfit inspired by your favourite female-led movie
Chosen movie: Carrie (1976)
Full Name: Carrie White
Age: 16
Profession: High school student
Bio: Carrie is introverted and socially awkward. She is an outcast in her school and an easy target for bullies. She has telekinetic powers which she had intent on using for harm, but it changed when she was poured pig’s blood during her school’s prom, which resulted in her massacring majority of the student body.
Interests: Reading
Strengths: Having telekinetic abilities
Goals and motivations: Carrie has only ever longed for acceptance from her mother and peers
Likes: Studying, reading
Dislikes: Her peers due to them always picking on her
What is a problem she encounters in the movie?

Carrie constantly gets bullied by the school and her religious fanatic mother due to her looks, what she wears, and meek personality

- substitute with something else (like an outer with a vest)
- combine (with pockets maybe from another design)
- adapt (adapt neckline maybe to suit the outer)
- modify (maybe hemline to be less curved)
- put to another use (take something out to be placed into another part of an outfit
- eliminate (maybe take something off the outfit)
- reverse (maybe take something to reverse in any way)
Week 3
what is sustainability
using resources that already exist to create something new instead of wasting it
what problems does sustainability solve
- limited resources: eg singapore have limited water supply, their solution to reuse and filter out water helps them to solve this problem through sustainability.
- endangered species/ loss of habitats, helps to keep the ecosystem in balance
- sustainability does not solve its issues as they are still ongoing, but it lessens the impact of pollution and water consumption

- why is it necessary
to make use of empty discs that often get thrown away. discarded cds will cause pollution as they will end up in landfills and will start leaching its chemicals into the groundwater.
- how is it executed
vintagewknd opened a second store called ‘super wasted store’ with its concept of recycling and remaking. they had a street art installation titled ‘super wasted project’ with its purpose of decorating empty discs. the cds that super wasted make use of are then decorated using permanent marker to write down people’s regrets in life, they are then pasted onto the installation board, and eventually all cds are decorated in their actual store at haji lane
